His Eminence Luding Khen Rinpoche is the second son of Her Eminence Jetsun Kushok Chimey Luding, the sister of His Holiness the Sakya Trizin. Her Eminence is married to Se Kushok Rinchen Luding, the brother of the senior Abbot of the Ngor Monastery, His Eminence Luding Khenchen Jamyang Tenpei Nyima Rinpoche (Luding Khenchen Rinpoche Senior). Rinpoche belongs to one of the oldest royal families of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
As a child since 10 years of age, Rinpoche was selected and trained as the successor for the future Abbot of the Ngor sub-sect of the Sakya Tradition. Until this present time, Rinpoche underwent intensive and rigorous training, a common requirement for a Tibetan Buddhist Lineage Holder. In addition to the daily tutelage under the direction of senior Ngor Abbot Luding Khenchen Rinpoche, Luding Khen Rinpoche also received numerous teachings and empowerments from His Holiness the Sakya Trizin.
Being a Lineage Holder, Rinpoche is well versed in all the common and uncommon collections of teachings of the Sakya Tradition. In the category of Tantra teachings, Rinpoche has studied and supremely mastered the precious Lam Dre teaching as well as all the categories of the collections of Tantras and the collections of Sadhanas, which include many rare secret and sacred teachings. Rinpoche diligently completed all the many important retreats required by an authentic Vajrayana Master. Rinpoche is an accomplished philosophical scholar and a graduate of the Sakya College of Higher Buddhist Philosophy in Dehra Dun, Northern India. Here Rinpoche studied under the guidance of the Late and Most Revered Khenchen Appey Rinpoche and the Late Most Venerable Khenpo Mingmar Tsering. As a result, Rinpoche is exceptionally well trained in both the Tantras and the Sutras.
After graduating from Sakya College in March 2000, Rinpoche was enthroned as the 76th Abbot of Ngor Ewan Chodan Monastery. Thereafter as the main Lineage Holder, Rinpoche travels far and wide to bestow many Vajrayana teachings and Initiations in India and Nepal and in the West in Northern America, Canada, Europe and Australia as well as exensively throughout South-East Asia. Rinpoche’s vast and profound knowledge of the Dharma and precise explanation of the entire Vajrayana teachings is immensely respected by even the most remarkable teachers of our time.
